Miyazaki is situated on the southern japanese island of Kyushu, facing the Pacific Ocean. It prides itself with palmtrees and a subtropical climate. At the end of October temperatures of around 24 deg.C. are common.
There is easy access to a beautiful countryside as well as historical buildings. Hot springs are plentyful. There are still many wild monkeys on the mountains, but at times they also stray into the small towns. Along the Pacific Ocean stretches a National Park. A peninsula is set aside for the wild horses living there.
Not too far away is a Volcano, extinct, but still blowing some sulphur clouds into the air. Cosmos flower fields frame the foot of the mountain in October.
The city has theatres and museums, shinto-shrines as well as plenty of fun at night time. The latest attraction is the Ocean Dome, a simulated Beach, even with waves and tropical plants. Restaurants vary from western to eastern and local, but food in general is more expensive than in Europe or USA.
